3 Things Your PC Gaming Setup is Incomplete Without

In the gaming industry, there’s an ongoing debate about which is better: console or PC. While both of them are amazing in their own way, I personally am a fan of PC gaming because of all the possibilities.

You can find nearly all the games that a console offers on a PC as well. Plus, you can tweak the graphics settings to enhance your gameplay, provided that you have a powerful GPU (Graphics Processing Unit). However, in order to create the ultimate PC gaming setup, you need a couple of essentials.

To make things easier for you, I’ll share three components and what they are used for below:

Internet That’s As Fast as a Blink

You must be aware that PC games don’t come in discs, something that we said goodbye to a long time ago. You have to head to gaming platforms like Steam to download games to your system.

Honestly, who has the patience to put a game on download and wait for hours until you can install it? That being said, you need an internet connection that downloads your game as quickly as possible. I use Xfinity’s internet, and I’ve rarely had any complaints. To get a connection, all you need to do is contact Xfinity customer service and leave the rest to them

Do keep in mind that most games also require periodic updates to download, and this is where your internet connection steps in as well. The same is the case for all the online games that you intend to play. So, having a formidable internet connection is a must for your gaming setup.

Reliable Gaming Monitor

You obviously need something that gives you video output, otherwise how can you possibly imagine playing a game? One of the best things about a gaming PC is that it’s relatively budget-friendly; you don’t have to invest in expensive gaming TVs.

Even if you get yourself a 2K resolution monitor, that would be more than enough. However, if you want to amp things up a bit, you may go for a 4K monitor instead. Do keep in mind how powerful your GPU is because if you have a weak GPU, there’s no point in getting a high-resolution monitor.

I personally use the Dell 27 S2721DGF and am having the time of my life. It has a 1440p resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate, making gameplay and transitions as smooth as possible.

Seamless Gaming PC (an umbrella term)

Now when we say “a gaming PC”, a monitor comes to mind, right? That’s not your PC, it’s actually the tower next to your monitor that has all the primary essentials to make your computer work.

In order to explain it to you better, I’ll break it down into a list. Just keep in mind that all these components are super important, and they’ll take up most of your investment, so choose wisely.

• Central Processing Unit (CPU): The processor (commonly called the CPU or Central Processing Unit) functions as the “mind” of your computer, so it has to be strong and fast. You can choose between Intel and AMD, as these are the two most popular companies.
• Graphics Processing Unit (GPU): The GPU or graphics card is responsible for processing what you see as you play your game. To have the most attention to detail, you should invest in a strong GPU.
  

  

• Random Access Memory (RAM): The RAM’s job is to store data and cache running programs in real time. The greater your RAM is, the faster your computer works. I recommend getting at least 16GB of RAM for a flawless gaming experience.
• Storage: In terms of storage, you have two options. You may either get a cheaper HDD (Hard Disk Drive), which costs less but is slower, or you may get an SSD (Solid State Drive), which is a lot faster but a little expensive. The storage capacity that you choose is up to you, but you should at least have 2TB of space.
• Cooling System: While gaming, all your PC components run simultaneously and at high speeds, creating heat in your PC. Excessive heat due to prolonged hours of gaming can damage your PC. Therefore, it is important that you invest in a good cooling system.

Now you know what the key components of a gaming PC are, you can begin creating your ultimate setup. Here are a few pointers to make your experience even better:

• Keep your router close to your PC and connect your PC to the internet through a LAN cable.
• Have at least 1TB SSD, and for additional storage for your games, get a 2TB HDD to reduce your costs.
• Get a good gaming mouse with side buttons, especially if you play First Person Shooter games like Call of Duty.
• For the best gaming experience, increase your RAM to 32GB with time.
